Due to the above issues and Phil's overall negativity, DSPGaming has become infamous and has been made fun of in countless YouTube videos.

Probably the most famous video is ''"This Is How You DON'T Play Metal Gear Solid 2"'', a montage video made on February 3rd, 2012 by former DSP fan, EvilAJ2010. He made the montage after Phil deceitfully claimed his MGS playthroughs got positive feedback, by trimming down 68 videos worth of gameplay into an hour long parody interlaced with comments from Phil's own playthrough to disprove said claims. Since then, hundreds of TIHYDP videos has been created, often amassing far more views than Phil's own content. The follow-up to MGS2, ''"TIHYDP MGS3"'' gained over 1 million views.

Phil's poor skill, lack of basic problem solving, and constant complaints about supposed "bugged game mechanics" have spawned several "DSP Experiences Bugged Mechanics" parodies. Using the Good Idea/Bad Idea segment from ''Animaniacs'', the uploader will showcase their own gameplay beside Phil's, with the former finishing that segment in a few minutes, while the latter struggles with the same section.

The group called the "Sons of Kojima" often created podcasts discussing Phil's antic and making reactions to various TIHYDP's known as "Let's Endure". However, the group existed for only 3 years until September 2017, when the members disbanded after some rumblings of shady behind-the-scenes activity were leaked out. Snort Burnell, another detractor channel, uploads "DSP tries it" parodies, which focus more on Phil's pre-streams, often highlighting Phil's complete lack of self-awareness, lies, contradictions, and blatant hypocrisy. Though it has not been proven or confirmed, there are many people who believe that Phil is a chronic narcissist as he exhibits a lot of the signs and symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder; the most common ones being his sense of entitlement, delusions of grandeur, constant belittlement of everyone around him, and lack of empathy.

These days however, you'd be hard pressed to find people mocking Phil, rather psychoanalysing everything he says and calling out is lies. The only reason why detractors even continue to discuss Phil and his antics is simply because of his stubborn refusal to fade away. He continues to act like a manchild in front of thousands of people, and he takes some sick pleasure in watching other, often bigger content creators go down in flames since it apparently validates his own empty existence, and allows him to keep up his facade of feeling more successful than he really is. Now, Phil has been reduced to constantly begging for money from his viewers, expecting them to be there to pay his bills/debts for him instead of taking initiative and seeking gainful employment.

In the past, Phil's has claimed to represent the viewpoint of the common gamer, but as someone who constantly begs for money, blames everyone else for his failures, and has no people skills to speak of, most folks in the gaming community try to distance themselves from such a toxic personality as DSP. This could be a key reason why Phil isn't invited to conventions, no longer receives advances copies of games, and is sometimes refused sponsorship deals, all the while refusing to see that his own personality is the biggest reason for his downfall, not the detractors making videos on him. While it is true that Phil will leave a legacy behind, it won't be a positive one. When he does finally leave the internet, he will only be remembered as a toxic YouTuber; the guy who treated his fans poorly, made excuses for everything, pan-handled more than a homeless person, and got caught burping the worm on stream, all of which will have only earned him comparisons to the infamous Chris-Chan. Once he is finally gone from the internet, his infamy will live on, and another toxic YouTuber will take his place...it will happen. It's just a matter of when.

Despite his claims that he has never rage-quit a game in his career, there is a 7 hour 32 minute long video showcasing around ''103'' DSP rage-quits from 2009 to 2018 (see below).
